Sailing Safety Information

Please read the following safety information then click the link below to send an email confirming you have read these safety items.

Sailing is one of the most enjoyable experiences one can enjoy, however, has inherent risks. Please read the following safety items before departing.

Below are must know items before departing the dock; there will be a quiz!

If someone should fall off the boat (man overboard); the person closest to the yellow horseshoe ring (on the stern, or back of the boat) will throw it off toward the person afloat. The person that threw it in will point on the person in the water until they are rescued.

The boom holds the bottom of the main sail, is metal and very heavy and can swing across the cockpit at high speeds. If someone were to stand up outside of the cockpit; the boom could inadvertently strike their head causing serious injury.

Be careful your hands and fingers do not get caught in winches and lines; there can be tremendous tension that could cause injury if not careful.

When walking around the boat, have one hand available to always hold on (one hand for yourself, one for the boat).

There will be life jackets available for all on board; you have the option of having yours out and available and wear if you are more comfortable.

If you cannot swim let us know so we can issue your life jacket at the start so you can wear it at all times.

Let us know if you have any medical conditions before departing. Please bring adequate clothing for the season; keeping in mind it can be much colder on the water; consider rain gear, sunglasses, sunblock, hat, etc.

Click the above button to send an email to Les confirming you have read the above. State this in the email, with any questions you may have. You will have ample time to ask questions before departing.
